Jim Scott, founder and principal of CareerChoiceFirst, recently spoke to 35 Lycoming College business and accounting students regarding job offer negotiations, types of basic compensation and benefit packages, and long-term job security.
Scott, a graduate of Lycoming College, stressed the importance of professional development, noting that people are most content in their career when they work for a company that encourages and provides opportunities for them to grow intellectually.
Kelley Hile, a junior with a double major in business administration and corporate communication attended the presentation.
“This isn’t information you learn in the classroom,” Hile said. “I didn’t realize there was a strategy to negotiating salaries and juggling job offers. After this presentation, I feel more prepared to start my career search.”
Anne Landon, internship coordinator, invited Scott to speak as part of an internship professional development seminar series.
