The Lycoming College Institute for Management Studies will welcome alumnus J. Richard Stamm, vice chairman and global tax leader, as a part of its James W. Harding Executive Speaker Series on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Mary L. Welch Honors Hall, at the corner of Basin and Market streets. The event is free and open to the public.

“A Global Perspective: Predicting the Path Ahead” will cover Stamm’s unique insight to the challenges the economies of the world will face in the future. The challenges that, he believes, future graduates in the field will be tasked with solving.

Stamm is responsible for building the capabilities of tax practices across the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) network of firms, as well as interacting on tax and business issues with many of the firm’s larger clients.

Prior to taking over leadership of the global tax network, Stamm served as the U.S. tax leader and vice chairman of the U.S. firm. Prior to becoming the U.S. tax leader, he served as the national industry leader of the consumer and industrial products group and in various other roles in the U.S. tax leadership.

Stamm joined the firm in 1976, serving in the Baltimore Assurance practice. He transferred to the tax practice in 1981 and moved on to spend a year in the firm’s Washington National Tax Services Office. Stamm was admitted to the partnership in 1986. He has served multiple companies including large inbound and outbound multinationals, large domestic companies, and family-owned businesses across a variety of industries.

A certified public accountant, Stamm is a graduate of Lycoming College and a member of the Lycoming College Board of Trustees.

The James W. Harding Executive Speaker Series is named for James W. Harding, a 1938 graduate of Lycoming College and native of Montoursville, Pa. Harding was an executive with Kemper Insurance. As the result of a grant from the James S. Kemper foundation to endow the series, students have the opportunity to meet and network with some of America's top business executives from numerous internationally-recognized companies and firms.
