Lycoming College will sponsor "The Theory of Everything" Friday, Feb. 6 through Wednesday, Feb. 11; movie times are 7 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport. Tickets for the show are available at the door and are free to Lycoming College faculty, staff and students, and $5 for the public. A reception will be held in the Capitol Lounge of the Community Arts Center prior to the event on First Friday at 5:30 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.

"The Theory of Everything" is a story of the relationship between physicist Stephen Hawking and his wife, Jane Wilde. The movie stars Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, and has been nominated for five Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Writing, Screenplay on Material Previously Published, and Best Original Score.

During the First Friday reception, President Kent Trachte and other members of the Lycoming College community will give a behind-the-scenes look at the new Lynn Science Center, which will provide STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning opportunities for Lycoming students and students in the Williamsport community.

The Lynn Science Center will bring all of the college’s science departments – astronomy, biology, chemistry and physics – under one roof. The physical proximity of the sciences will foster increased interdisciplinary collaboration, interaction and research. When combined with Heim, the Lynn Science Center will provide Lycoming’s faculty and students with nearly 90,000 square-feet of space for teaching and learning. A focal point of the science center will be the new Detwiler Planetarium, which Trachte describes as a “world-class visual learning center.” The new 35-foot-wide domed planetarium will use a digital projection system to recreate the night sky and astronomical bodies.

The Community Arts Center (CAC) is dedicated to providing the greater area with great shows at great prices. In addition to bringing touring and local performers into the theater, the CAC has developed a strong culture of collaboration, partnering with many local organizations to work together to "put the community in the Community Arts Center."
