Lycoming College biology professor earns neuroscience award

Mary Morrison, Ph.D., professor of biology at Lycoming College, received the Carol Ann Paul Educator of the Year Award from the Faculty for Undergraduate Neuroscience organization. The national award recognizes a member of the organization for notable efforts to promote the effective teaching of neuroscience at the undergraduate level.

Along with her teaching credentials, Morrison’s achievements include mentoring neuroscience educators and researchers at liberal arts colleges throughout the U.S., participating in international discussions of the importance of diversity in the neuroscience workforce, holding workshops for high school teachers nationwide, and for outreach efforts to elementary school students near Lycoming College.

Morrison is the chair of the Biology Department and the coordinator for its neuroscience minor program.
