The Lycoming College Community Orchestra and Concert Band will put on a concert on Friday, Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Clarke Chapel at Lycoming College. This event is free and open to the public.

This mid-semester concert showcases a variety of repertoire by W.A. Mozart, Alfred Reed and Percy Grainger, among others. Amanda Gunderson, assistant professor of music, will play two movements of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major with the Lycoming College Community Orchestra. The orchestra will also play Grieg’s beautiful “Elegiac Melodies,” “Heart’s Wound” and “Last Spring” for strings.

The band will perform the “Hounds of Spring Overture” by Alfred Reed and a new work by Art Michaels called “Escape in Swing.”

The Lycoming College Concert Band is an ensemble of 55 students comprised of woodwind, brass and percussion players who perform wind band literature. The Lycoming College Community Orchestra was started in 2013 for local amateur musicians with a $15,000 grant from the Williamsport Lycoming Community Fund at the First Community Foundation Partnership of Pennsylvania.
