The Lycoming Baroque Choir and Orchestra will perform Sunday, Nov. 16, at 2:30 p.m. in Clarke Chapel, located on the Lycoming College campus. Tickets are $10 per adult, $5 per student, and free for children. Tickets can be purchased at the door with cash or a check.

The performance will include J.S. Bach’s Cantata 106 and works by Ola Gjeilo, Dominick Argento, Tomas Luis de Victoria, and CHH Parry, among others. One of the goals of the group is to promote music from the Baroque and Renaissance eras, also known as “early music.” Early Music America (EMA), a not-for-profit service organization for the field of historical performance in North America, has given the Lycoming Baroque Choir and Orchestra a small grant to promote and educate the local community on the performance of early music.

The Lycoming Baroque Choir and Orchestra is an auditioned choir, founded by Dr. Chris Jackson, director of choral activities, and Fiona Gillespie, adjunct faculty member, that promotes music from the Baroque and Renaissance eras in one, high-quality choral performance each fall and spring. It uses a professional model of condensed rehearsals – five rehearsals over one long weekend (Thursday – Sunday).
