Lycoming College celebrated the contributions of its staff members and presented its top five awards during the Staff Appreciation Day on Wednesday, May 21. The awards are given on the basis of dedication and service to the college. Nominations were received from both staff and faculty members, and the award-winners were voted on by a committee of their peers. In addition, 109 Service Awards were presented for every five years of completed service.
John Shaffer, building and grounds general labor supervisor, received the Employee of the Year Award. He has worked at the college since 2004. The award recognizes outstanding leadership, service and spirit.
Andrew Kilpatrick, assistant dean for freshman, was recognized with the Blue & Gold Leadership Award. He has been employed at Lycoming since 2005. The award is given to an employee who exemplifies significant leadership skills and characteristics.
Debbie Smith, faculty administrative assistant, received the Benjamin Crever Outstanding Service Award. She has worked at the college since 2000. The award is given to an employee who has demonstrated excellent service and has made significant contributions to his/her department, division and/or the campus community.
Sue Beidler, head of collection management services and systems at Snowden Library, was presented the Warrior Spirit Award. She began working at the college in 1975. The award is given to an employee who embodies the spirit of Lycoming.
Kelly Henrie, director of recreation and intramurals, was named Rookie Warrior of the Year. She began working at Lycoming in 2011. The award, which is open to those who have worked at the college between nine months and three years, is given to an employee who has demonstrated exceptional abilities as a new employee.
