Local artist Lena Yeagle teamed up with Elizabeth Hughes and Bryan McGinnis to share the spirit of the Uptown Music Collective with the community with a mural they painted on the non-profit school of music’s lobby wall in downtown Williamsport. Hughes, of Methuen, Mass., graduated from Lycoming College in May 2016 with a degree in painting and printmaking. McGinnis, of Levittown, Pa., is a senior photography and painting major at the College.

The trio was commissioned by the collective’s executive director, Dave Brumbaugh, and the Lycoming College Art Department to complete the mural, referred to as “Another Brick in the Wall.” The mural, based on imagery from Pink Floyd’s album “The Wall,” dresses up the school’s lobby, while thanking the Collective’s recent donors by placing their names on bricks.

“When I envisioned the ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ Campaign, I had a vague vision of what I thought the mural could look like. Lena, Elizabeth and Bryan took that indistinct vision and brought it to life in a way that was beyond my limited artistic mind, creating a work of art that will inspire generations of students, teachers and supporters for years to come,” said Brumbaugh. “I couldn't possibly be more pleased with the result. We cherish our ongoing relationship with Lycoming College and its students.”

The mural is an example of the College’s collaboration on community projects and the types of options open to Lycoming College art students. It also represents the community’s expanding signature as a premiere location for musicians and artists of all genres.
